Pharmacology
Multinutrient & Botanical Synergy:
  • UC-II® (undenatured type II collagen, 40 mg) — oral undenatured type II collagen is thought to act by oral tolerance: small amounts of native type II collagen presented to gut-associated lymphoid tissue induce regulatory T-cells that down-regulate immune responses against joint cartilage, reducing inflammation and pain and improving function. Clinical trials commonly use 40 mg/day.

  • Curcumin (Curcumin C3 Complex®, 100 mg) — curcuminoids inhibit multiple pro-inflammatory signalling pathways (NF-κB, COX/LOX modulation, cytokine down-regulation) and provide antioxidant effects; bioavailability of curcumin is limited unless formulated (e.g., C3 Complex®, nanoparticles, or combined with piperine). Clinical evidence supports symptom improvement in OA with curcumin formulations.

  • Boswellin® Super (Boswellia serrata, 100 mg) — standardized boswellic acid extracts (notably AKBA) inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and reduce leukotriene-mediated inflammation; clinical studies of Boswellin® Super show improvements in pain and function in OA.

  • Hyaluronic acid (oral, 80 mg) — oral HA is proposed to contribute to joint lubrication and viscoelasticity indirectly (systemic absorption of low-molecular-weight fractions) and has shown benefits for knee pain in multiple trials and reviews.

  • BioPerine® (piperine, 2.5 mg) — increases intestinal absorption and systemic bioavailability of curcuminoids (and other drugs/nutrients) by inhibiting certain drug-metabolising enzymes and intestinal efflux; small piperine doses are commonly used to boost curcumin levels. Note: piperine can also potentiate drug interactions.
Indications
  • Primary Indication: Management and relief of symptoms associated with joint disorders.
  • Specific Uses:
    • Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee, hip, and other joints.
    • Reducing joint pain, stiffness, and swelling.
    • Supporting cartilage health and regeneration.
    • Improving joint flexibility and mobility.
    • As a nutritional support for age-related joint degeneration and sports-related joint injuries.
Dosage
  • Typical Recommended Dosage:One capsule daily, preferably with a meal to enhance absorption and minimize potential gastrointestinal discomfort.
  • Duration: Consult a healthcare professional. Often recommended for an initial period of 3-6 months, with ongoing use for maintenance.
Precautions
General
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose.
  • This product is a nutritional supplement and should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet or prescribed medication.
  • Consult a healthcare professional before use if you have a pre-existing medical condition (e.g., liver, kidney, or heart disease) or are undergoing treatment.
  • Source warnings: UC-II is derived from chicken sternum cartilage — mention for patients with food-related allergies or vegetarians/vegans.
Warnings
  • Hypersensitivity/Allergy: Do not take if allergic to any component (UC-II contains chicken sternal cartilage; Curcumin and Bioperine are from botanical sources).
  • Gastrointestinal Distress: High doses of Curcumin and Boswellia can cause mild side effects like nausea, diarrhoea, or heartburn. Taking with food can help.
  • Bleeding risk: curcumin and Boswellia may have mild antiplatelet effects; caution with anticoagulants/antiplatelet drugs (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel).
  • Drug interaction risk via piperine: BioPerine® (piperine) can inhibit CYP enzymes and P-glycoprotein — it may raise blood levels of co-administered drugs (e.g., certain statins, antihypertensives, immunosuppressants, anticonvulsants). Use caution and check interactions.
Contraindications
  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to Undenatured Collagen Type II, Curcumin, Boswellia, Hyaluronic Acid, Piperine, or any excipients.
  • May be contraindicated in individuals with known bleeding disorders or those on strong blood-thinning medication (due to potential mild antiplatelet effects of Curcumin/Boswellia).
  • Paediatric use: not established — avoid in children unless directed by physician. (Label per local regulation.)

Drug Interaction

  • Anticoagulants/Antiplatelet Drugs (Blood Thinners): Curcumin and Boswellia may have mild antiplatelet effects. Use with caution if the patient is on drugs like Warfarin, Aspirin, or Clopidogrel, as it may increase the risk of bleeding.
  • Medications metabolized by the liver (Cytochrome P450 substrates): Bioperine (Piperine) is a known inhibitor of certain liver enzymes (CYP450), which can increase the absorption and concentration of many concurrently administered drugs, potentially increasing their effects and side effects.
  • Antidiabetic Drugs: Curcumin may lower blood sugar levels, potentially enhancing the effects of insulin or oral antidiabetic medications. Monitor blood glucose closely.
  • Immunosuppressants: UC-II — immunomodulatory effects (oral tolerance) and Boswellia may affect the immune system's activity. Use with caution with immunosuppressant medications.
Pregnancy
  • Insufficient well-controlled human data. Most manufacturers advise avoiding high-dose curcumin and piperine in pregnancy; UC-II and Boswellia lack adequate safety data in pregnancy/lactation. Recommend avoid use during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless a physician advises otherwise.
Adverse Effects
  • Generally well-tolerated at recommended doses.
  • Common (Mild): Gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea, stomach upset/indigestion, bloating, diarrhoea, or heartburn), mild headache.
  • Rare: Allergic reactions (rash, itching).
Overdosage
  • No cases of severe overdose are commonly reported for the individual components.
  • Symptoms of Overdose: May include exaggerated common side effects (severe gastrointestinal distress, intense headache, etc.).
  • There is no specific antidote. Management is supportive and symptomatic.
  • Large oral overdoses of curcumin may cause GI distress and, rarely, elevated liver enzymes. For UC-II, Boswellia, HA or piperine — toxicity reports are uncommon at typical supplement doses. In overdose or severe symptoms, refer patient to emergency/medical care and provide supportive therapy.
Storage
  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Recommended: room temperature below 25°C.
  • Follow local label/regulatory requirements for shelf-life and storage statements.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Pharmacology

Tendovia Tablet contains ingredients that synergistically support connective tissue regeneration and reduce inflammation:

  • L-Arginine: Precursor of nitric oxide (NO); enhances microcirculation and nutrient delivery to tendons at the tendon–bone interface and supports collagen deposition during tendon healing and reducing oxidative stress.
  • Collagen Peptide Type I: Supplies bioactive peptides (Pro-Hyp, Hyp-Gly) that stimulate fibroblasts and tenocytes to synthesize Type I collagen — the dominant protein in tendon matrix.
  • Chondroitin Sulphate: Contributes structural glycosaminoglycans to extracellular matrix; protects collagen fibrils from enzymatic degradation; aids in tensile strength recovery.
  • Vitamin C: Essential for collagen synthesis and acts as an antioxidant. It’s an essential co-factor for hydroxylation of proline/lysine in collagen maturation; accelerates tendon repair and reduces oxidative damage at the injury site.
  • Hyaluronic acid (oral, 80 mg) — Improves tendon sheath lubrication, reduces friction, and modulates inflammatory cytokines. Promotes gliding and elasticity of tendons.
  • Curcumin (Curcumin C3 Complex®, 100 mg) — curcuminoids inhibit multiple pro-inflammatory signalling pathways (NF-κB, COX/LOX modulation, cytokine down-regulation) and provide antioxidant effects; bioavailability of curcumin is limited unless formulated (e.g., C3 Complex®, nanoparticles, or combined with piperine).
  • Boswellin® Super (Boswellia serrata, 100 mg) — standardized boswellic acid extracts (notably AKBA) inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and reduce leukotriene-mediated inflammation and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity in tendon tissue.
  • BioPerine® (piperine, 2.5 mg) — increases intestinal absorption and systemic bioavailability of curcuminoids, and Boswellia actives (and other drugs/nutrients) by inhibiting certain drug-metabolising enzymes and intestinal efflux; small piperine doses are commonly used to boost curcumin levels. Note: piperine can also potentiate drug interactions.
Indications
Tendovia Tablet is indicated for:
  • Tendinitis and tendinopathy (e.g. Achilles, rotator cuff, tennis elbow, patellar tendinitis).
  • Post-tendon injury or post-surgical tendon repair support.
  • Repetitive strain or overuse tendon pain in athletes and active individuals.
  • Adjunctive nutritional therapy in degenerative tendon conditions and age-related loss of tendon elasticity.
  • Maintenance of healthy tendon collagen and vascular supply.
